Update #5

redevelopment update -  august 2010
The process seems at times to move so slowly but there is a growing optimism and confidence in the Redevelopment Cabinet that the New Year will indeed see us embarking on the next major step in the redevelopment of our synagogue.

The rezoning application is now almost complete – reports from consultants and forms have been prepared and filled in to meet the city’s requirements for the application. One final report is needed and then the package will be delivered to city hall, we expect, before the end of September 2010.

Meetings with the architect, engineering consultants, VTT, our redevelopment cabinet have been ongoing this past 2 ½ months. There is now greater clarity with VTT as to what and how we may share certain facilities. We are continuing to work with the architect and various other professionals to refine a design concept that is cognizant of all the needs BI has.

The process we have been going through also involves looking at cost estimates for various options.
We are hopeful that, in the early Fall, BI will have a revised projected time line for the redevelopment which will include formalizing a building concept for our redevelopment.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, in what is a complicated and daunting project. We hope that this fall, as we share our progress with you, you will all start feeling a growing sense of excitement and belief that we have an amazing opportunity now for the future of BI that is about take flight!
