Special note regarding Passover

A special note from Rabbi Infeld regarding Passover
Please consider making a donation to the Jewish Family Service Agency for their Maot Chittim campaign so that we can ensure the entire Jewish community of the Lower Mainland will have food to eat this coming Passover.

If possible, all hametz – food not acceptable during Passover, and materials containing such unacceptable food – should be destroyed or given away before the holiday begins. Should this be impossible or cause financial strain, the hametz may be stored in such a way that you are sure not to use it during the holiday and its actual ownership is transferred to a non-Jew until the holiday ends. In order to fulfill the Jewish precept of not owning any hametz during Passover, please fill out the following document and mail or bring it to Rabbi Infeld at the BI office no later than March 26, 2010.

Please complete the form below and return to Beth Israel no later than March 26, 2010.
You can download the form as an easily printable PDF document from the attachement below.
I, the undersigned, fully empower and permit Rabbi Jonathan Infeld to act on my behalf to sell all hametz possessed by me, knowingly or unknowingly, as defined by Torah and rabbinic law, and to lease all places wherein hametz owned by me may be found. This transaction will be in effect for the duration of Passover, which this year begins at sundown of March 29, 2010 and runs through April 6, 2010.
And to this I hereby affix my signature on this ___day of the month of _________, 2010.
