Congregation Beth Israel, a member of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, is dedicated to the strengthening of all aspects of Jewish life including worship and Torah study, religion, educational and social activities for all ages, and the observance of life cycle events.
From a small meeting in 1932, a major Conservative synagogue was born. Today it occupies a key position in Jewish life in the Lower Mainland.
What makes Beth Israel stand out? We believe it’s two things: Love for community and passion for bringing people closer to God, Torah & Israel.
We welcome Jews of all ages, from all backgrounds and levels of observance – singles, families, LGBTQ, retirees, students, Jews by choice, intermarried couples…
Beth Israel’s dedicated Board of Directors oversees all major aspects of synagogue life. Each member is voted in at the Annual General Meeting.
Our staff is made of of many dedicated individuals with a large amount of experience in the Jewish, non-profit, and business communities.

The Vancouver Jewish Community Garden was established in 2020 through a collaborative effort by Vancouver Talmud Torah, Congregation Beth Israel, and Jewish Family Services. This initiative was fueled by a shared dedication to fostering innovation and promoting community well-being.
Our hope for this garden is that it enriches our community, providing a beautiful space for us to gather, learn, grow, and find inspiration. By spending time in this garden, we aim to strengthen our connections with each other and with the natural world around us.
